From "Reckford Road Water Pipe Upgrade"

Go to the project

πŸ‘‹ Welcome!

We're pleased to introduce a project at Reckford Road Westleton and provide an overview of the planned work.

🚧 This project involves replacing around 1.7 kilometres of water pipe along Reckford Road. The existing pipes are being upgraded with new, modern water mains to help maintain a reliable water supply for the local area and support our network for the future.

Hello I live in Rectory Road, Middleton. I wanted to mention accuracy of diversion signs. Sometimes when a utility carries out works, they put up a sign which just says β€œRoad Closed”. Human nature means that many people, including myself!, often just carry on in the hope that the closure is past their destination. Therefore the sign at the junction of B1222 and B1225 needs to clearly state β€œ No access to Westleton”, Otherwise frustrated drivers realising that they can’t get through at the Rectory Road junction ( start of the works), are likely to divert through Middleton village, back to the B1222, and thence to A12, quite probably faster than they would have done along narrow road, with many concealed driveways to properties. Thank you Rob Buxton

@Rob Buxton Hi Rob Thanks for taking the time to share your observations and suggestions regarding the diversion signage. Your feedback is very much appreciated. Your point about driver behaviour is well made. Your suggestion that the signage at the B1222/B1225 junction should clearly state "No access to Westleton" is particularly helpful. We can see how this additional information would give drivers greater clarity at an earlier stage, helping them make informed routing decisions and potentially reducing traffic through Middleton village and along roads less suited to increased traffic volumes. Please be assured that we have taken your comments on board and will share this feedback with the relevant team for consideration when reviewing traffic management and diversion signage arrangements. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Thanks The Project Team
