Community Hub Admin Team 2 weeks ago Hello everyoneWork on the Eye to Occold water pipe replacement project has now begun.Our delivery partner, T4, started construction on Monday 3 August. We're investing £750,000 to replace 2.5km of ageing water pipes between Church Street and Cranley Green Road, strengthening the local network and reducing the risk of bursts and unplanned interruptions.Teams are currently setting up Phase 1 on Church Street, where a temporary road closure is in place between the B1077 and Cedar Close. Signage is in position to support safe movement around the area. Access for residents will be maintained throughout.Thank you for your patience while these essential upgrades get underway. We have now successfully excavated the full 115-metre trench line, and all pipelines for the three diversions have been fused together and have successfully passed the inspection.As part of our preparations for the upcoming connection works, we are currently carrying out a series of trial shuts to ensure everything is in place and can be completed as smoothly and safely as possible.We have also been working closely with the local farmers to coordinate access to the site, helping to minimise any disruption to their harvesting season. Our teams have now completed the section of work on Romford Road and will be moving on to the next street in the programme - Nethan Drive.Residents living on Nethan Drive will have received a letter from us with more detail about what to expect while we’re working outside your home. Access to your property will always be maintained, and traffic management will be in place where needed to keep everyone safe.As the project progresses, you’ll receive a letter from us around two weeks before we begin work on your street, with specific information about timings and what to expect.Thanks The Project Team

Community Hub Admin Team 1 month ago Hello everyoneWe’re excited to share the latest progress on the River Blackwater Eels Project. As a quick reminder, this work is part of Essex & Suffolk Water’s Eel Regulation Programme, which helps protect eels and other wildlife by preventing them from becoming trapped at our intake and pumping stations. The final stage of the programme involves installing a new eel‑friendly screens at the Blackwater Intake on the River Blackwater.The 1st Stage of the works, involving the creation of a formal highways bell mouth entrance off of Maldon Road, which creates access to the site, commenced on 8th June 2026. We apologies for any inconvenience caused by the temporary traffic lights. The Traffic Lights are due to be in place until the middle of September 2026. The detailed design phase is almost complete for the 2nd Phase of works, which will commence shortly after the 1st Stage of works are finish in September. The 2nd Phase of works involves constructing the remainder of the access to the river and location of the new eel screens. The new screens will be installed in late Summer 2027 with all the associated mechanical, electrical and control systems being put constructed in unison to facilitate safe operation and controlled operation of the screens. Community Hub Admin Team 1 month ago Hello EveryoneWe've been very busy over the winter and spring seasons, and we've got some good news to share. The major construction phase of the scheme is now complete. The main structure, pipework, and mechanical assets are all now constructed and installed. The next big milestone for the project is the arrival of the electrical panel ready for electrical connections. We've started the commissioning process as the pipework pressure tests passed and are complete. The process checks are now underway. We're expecting full wet testing to begin over the summer. This involves introducing water into the pipes, and we are to carry our final checks to ensure everything is operating as expected. Once completed, we expect the full filter process to be in service by autumn, mid-September. We'll update you with our progress in the autumn.Thanks The Project Team

As part of the next stage, work will now move into Stradbroke Road, which requires changes to traffic management in the area.Traffic Management ChangesFrom 22 June 2026, the following measures will be in place: Stradbroke Road will be closed at its junction with B1116 (Laxfield Road) No through traffic permitted from the Water Tower end Clearly signed diversion routes will remain in place.We strongly encourage all drivers to follow the posted diversion routes to avoid disruption.Access ArrangementsWe understand how important local access is, and we want to reassure you that: Residential access will be maintained Business access will be maintained School access will be maintained We appreciate your ongoing understanding while we complete this project.ThanksThe Project Team

We understand that this may be disappointing, and we appreciate your patience while we work through these challenges.Our team is currently carrying out additional investigations, and further design work is now underway. These steps are essential to make sure the final solution meets the high standards we expect before the borehole is brought into supply.While this has extended the overall timeline, our priority is to get this right first time. It'll now be delivered during the six-week summer break in 2027, as we already have plans in place this year to complete works on Nethan and Tamar. The first road affected by these works is Romford Road. Traffic lights will be in place and access to your home will always be available.We're working in your area with our partners Lowmans to replace 8km of water pipes, as part of our investment to continue to provide you a reliable water supply. This work includes the replacement of pipes that connect our network to your home. This £1.4m project aims to reduce the number of unplanned interruptions you and other customers may have experienced due to leaks, and other issues with the older pipework. As the project progresses, you'll get a letter from us two weeks prior to us working on your street with more detail about what to expect. Please be aware that access to homes within this road will always be available.
