Park Road Mains Renewal

The Park Road, Flixton (Bungay) mains renewal scheme has been selected as one of the priority upgrade projects within the Suffolk area. This location has a recorded history of bursts, along with clear evidence that the existing infrastructure is aging and deteriorating. As a result, it has been identified as a key candidate for inclusion within our wider water network upgrade programme.

The project involves the renewal and upgrade of the existing 4-inch and 5-inch asbestos cement water mains, which are approaching the end of their operational life. The upgrade also includes the replacement of customer communication pipes and boundary boxes, helping to improve overall network performance, reduce leakage, and enhance long‑term water supply reliability.

To minimise disruption to residents, road users, and local businesses, we will be using directional drilling our fastest and least intrusive installation method. This trenchless technique allows the new mains to be installed underground with significantly reduced excavation, noise, and traffic impact.
