Springfield Water Pipe Renewal

The Springfield Mains Renewal project is a major investment to strengthen the resilience and performance of the local water network. Around 5km of ageing water mains will be replaced with modern plastic pipes and new valves to improve water quality, reduce leakage and lower the risk of bursts.

By renewing the water mains, we will be able to improve the reliability of your water supply and provide a long-term solution to the bursts mains and leaks you have been experiencing.

Community Hub Admin Team 4 days ago Hi everyone, Just a friendly reminder that work will be starting in your area from around 8am on Monday. We’ll be beginning on Burnham Road, Bodmin Road (Burnham Rd to Dartmouth Rd), Dartmouth Road, and Totnes Walk. Temporary traffic lights will be in place at various points between Monday 20 July - mid October. We understand that this kind of work can be disruptive, so please be assured we’ll do everything we can to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. You’ll receive a letter around two weeks before we reach your specific street, with more detailed information about what to expect. I am Daren Still, Essex & Suffolk Water’s Project Manager and I will be looking after this scheme through to its completion. The scheme will be delivered by Essex & Suffolk Water. Starting July 2026, we will be carrying out construction works in Springfield, Chelmsford to improve the water reliability and reducing the likelihood of future burst mains and any interruption to supplies.
