Steeple Road Water Mains Renewal

As part of our Water Mains Renewal Investment Programme, we will be replacing 2.9km of water main alongside Steeple Road, from the junction with the B1018 Burnham Road to the junction of The Drive/Woodland Park Chase. This project is essential as it will replace an aging water main that has unfortunately experienced some issues in the past, leading to interruptions in service and consequential damage. Our goal is to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted water supply for you and the community.

Go Vocal Moderator5 months ago Hi everyone,We’re pleased to confirm that the new water main installation within the road closure section of Steeple Road in Latchingdon has been successfully completed. As a result, the road will be re-opened on the afternoon of 6th November, one day ahead of schedule.While further pipe installation is required to complete the full 3km pipeline scheme, this remaining work will take place entirely within fields. No further road closures will be necessary.Thank you.

Go Vocal Moderator5 months ago Hi everyone,As of this week, we have successfully installed 2,000 metres of new 250mm diameter water main. The vast majority of this has been laid within the field edge.We are currently working on the one section where installation in the roadway was unavoidable—specifically in Latchingdon, between the Steeple Road/Burnham Road roundabout and just past Lawlinge Road, where the route re-enters the field. This section, which requires a road closure, is progressing well and remains on track for completion by the planned end date of 7th November. We are also working hard to complete this section ahead of schedule, if feasible.Following completion of the road closure section, the road will re-open and our focus will then shift back to the remaining pipe installation within the field, as we begin to approach the connection into the existing water network near Mayland.Thank you,The Project Team

Go Vocal Moderator9 months ago The work is scheduled to begin on 21st July 2025 and we anticipate it will last until November 2025. The majority of the work will take place in the adjacent fields, minimising any disruption. However, there will be some instances where we need to work within the road carriageway for short sections. For everyone’s safety, we will implement traffic management during these times. Rest assured, we will give you advance notice with clear signs outlining the dates and times of any road work approximately two weeks before it begins. At present, this section of the work is expected to take place in October 2025.As the project takes place, we will keep you informed of our progress and any updates on the key stages (particularly the sections in the roadway) and the completion date.
