Project: Lower Thames Crossing - Linford Well

Project Overview

We're supporting the Lower Thames Crossing project by providing water from the Linford Well, which will be used during the construction of the new tunnel. As part of this work, we need to improve the Linford Well site to ensure it remains safe and suitable for future use. The building that currently houses the well has reached the end of its life and is no longer safe to operate from. To keep the site safe for our teams and contractors, the existing building will be carefully removed. This will allow us to continue using the site safely while supporting the delivery of the Lower Thames Crossing project.

Community Hub Admin Team 1 month ago Hi everyone, We are pleased to let you know that Phase One of our work at the Linford Well compound is now complete. Wherever possible, materials from the site have been recycled or reused to reduce waste and support sustainability.All that remains is the installation of a new fence which is currently being manufactured, and we are awaiting delivery. The site continues to be monitored by our security cameras.As part of the ongoing requirements of the Lower Thames Crossing project, we will be returning in September for Phase Two of the works. At this time, there will be minimal impact to local residents.We would like to thank the local community for their patience, understanding, and support while these recent works have been carried out.The Project Team

Community Hub Admin Team 6 months ago Hi everyone,We’re pleased to share the latest progress on the Linford Well Demolition Project. This project forms a key early phase in preparing to supply water to the tunnel boring machines used to construct the Lower Thames Crossing, a scheme that will improve journeys across the South East of England.Work continues to take place inside the building, which means activity remains largely out of sight for local residents.Demolition work is scheduled to begin on 23rd March. As we move into this phase, you may notice an increase in noise levels and more visible changes on site. All work will continue to be carried out during normal daytime business hours, and there will be no impact on local water supplies or essential services.We remain committed to keeping the community informed. Engagement with local residents and nearby care facilities will continue as we move into this more visible stage of the project, and further updates will be shared as progress continues.

Community Hub Admin Team 8 months ago Hi everyone,We’re pleased to share the latest progress on the Linford Well Demolition Project. This project is the first phase in preparing to supply of water to the tunnel boring machines used to construct Lower Thames Crossing, a project that will greatly improve journeys across the South East of England.Mobilising on site has begun week commencing 2nd February. Once set up on site, preparation activities will commence inside the building. To support this, we have engaged with local residents and nearby care facilities through door‑knocking and letter drops, keeping the community informed of what to expect.Over the coming weeks, you may notice an increase in vehicular movement into the site as we begin setting up welfare facilities, security measures and access routes. All work will take place during normal daytime hours, and there will be no impact on water supplies or local services. Most of the work over the next few weeks will be taking place inside the building.We appreciate your patience and will continue working hard to minimise any disruption.Images and diagrams of the project's progress will be shared in upcoming updates.
